María Antongiorgi-Jordán is a lawyer and jurist who serves as a United States District Judge for the District of Puerto Rico. She was nominated by President Joseph Biden on June 15, 2022 and has served since December 1, 2022. She sits in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Maria has excelled in sports, particularly volleyball and tennis, and was signed by a team in a professional volleyball league in Puerto Rico at age 16.

Her athletic skills earned her a scholarship to Seton Hill University where she completed a B.A. in Communications in 1989. María credits volleyball with the early development of her organizational skills, time management, ability to perform under pressure, and teamwork proficiency.

María earned her Juris Doctor from the Inter American University School of Law in Puerto Rico in 1992 and a Master of Laws in Labor Law from Georgetown University Law Center.

María began her law career in 1995 as an Associate in the Labor and Employment Department at McConnell Valdés LLC, Puerto Rico’s premier and largest law firm. María distinguished herself as a top-tier litigant in complex civil litigation matters and was recognized as one of the best in her field. Within just five years, she was promoted to Partner.

From 2018 to 2022, María served as both Chief Deputy Clerk and Clerk of Court for the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. As Clerk of Court, she was responsible for handling and securing all court operations during the COVID pandemic and the transitioning from in-person to virtual hearings.

María is also an active volunteer in outreach programs related to drug prevention, bullying and cyberbullying and domestic violence.

“Besides getting a premier education, Seton Hill helped me develop and strengthen many competencies that have enabled me to excel and succeed, both personally and professionally,” María said.
