The Doug Wood Gold Classic is named in honor of Douglas J. Wood, a former trustee of Seton Hill University. He was considered by his colleagues and friends a talented businessman and visionary leader. Determination and a solid work ethic inspired Doug to begin a successful career as an entrepreneur. He became co-owner and president of CTP Carrera, Inc., a provider of custom injection molding manufacturing services. Doug owned and operated Carrera for 13 years. Following the sale of Carrera Doug contributed to the formation and establishment of Astro Instrumentation LLC, a leading provider of cost-effective and complete manufacturing solutions for technology and corporate clients located in Strongville, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. Doug Wood earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Brown University and Master of Business Administration degree in corporate finance and accounting from Cornell University. A dedicated member of the community, Doug also served on the board of the Latrobe Foundation and the Westmoreland Cultural Trust. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Valerie Wood and two children, Douglas and Amy Wood. Doug's service to Seton Hill University was both generous and gracious. In recognition of his years of leadership and service to Seton Hill, the University has names its annual gold outing in his honor. "The Doug Wood Golf Classic" funds new athletic capital projects to further meet the unmet needs of students and build on the strength of athletic programs at Seton Hill.
